Fat Tire

This is the second beer bottle cake i've made. The first was for my sister's birthday a few years ago...i've been meaning to post the pic, oops :) This cake was requested by my brother for his friend Theresa. He said she was a Fat Tire kinda girl so I hope she loves it. The cake itself is a chocolate cake with chocolate and strawberry filling, frosted in buttercream and covered in fondant. I painted the fat tire logo on it...clearly i'm no Picasso but i think it turned out great! Happy Birthday Theresa, i hope your day is a good one :)

Viva Las Vegas!

Isn't this just a fun looking cake?! Heather ordered it for her friend Vicki. It's a chocolate cake with chocolate and strawberry filling, frosted in buttercream and covered in fondant. I tried to incorporate things that reminded me of the one thing Vegas is known for...GAMBLING! A poker table with chips, triple 7's, dice, the Vegas sign, a martini glass, a Royal Flush, gold coins, cherries and the Las Vegas skyline :) I hope she loves it! Happy Birthday Vicki and thank you Heather for the order!

16 Candles

This cake makes me want to start my piano lessons all over again :) The bottom tier is a white cake with raspberry filling and the top tier is a chocolate cake with an oreo cream filling. Both are frosted in buttercream and covered with fondant. When Katie ordered it she asked specifically for the design to reflect Gracie's interests. She wanted the piano keys, music notes and the number 16 for the cake topper. To add color i was able to use pink and purple by making the top tier look like a gift that was exploding :) When i dropped off the cake the birthday girl loved it and i couldn't have been happier. Happy Sweet 16 Gracie! I hope your day was amazing!!

Winnie the Pooh

Winnie the Pooh...Winnie the Pooh...Tubby little cubby all stuffed with fluff...He's Winnie the Pooh! Its been years since i've seen the show but the song still sticks clear in my mind :) My brother ordered this birthday cake for his girlfriend. I didn't know right away what her interests were in except one thing...basketball...so i was certain that's what i'd be designing the cake after but when he told me she likes Winnie the Pooh, the cake design changed instantly! It's a white cake with chocolate and strawberry filling, frosted in buttercream and covered in fondant. I hope she loves it!! Happy Happy Birthday Stacy, i hope you have an amazing birthday :)

Pirates of the Caribbean

That was the theme of Daniel's birthday party. The movie, if i'm not mistaken, had its opening day yesterday. So the party was at Harkins Theatres...how cool is that?! We all enjoyed having the day to spend with family while we celebrated watching the latest in the Pirates of the Caribbean saga. We were treated to pizza and drinks and of course what party would be complete without cake!? Very fitting too. Jessica wanted the cake to be a pirate theme...the birthday boy specifically asked for the Black Pearl. So this was what i came up with and they all enjoyed it. It was a chocolate cake with an oreo cream filling frosted in buttercream and covered in fondant. Thank you for the order Jessica and Happy Happy Birthday Daniel!

A big red firetruck

Cyndy requested this cake for the Junipine Fire Department banquet. I had several ideas but narrowed it down to two choices... a fire truck or a fireman's hat. But because she needed at least 25 servings it just made more sense going with a fire truck. I was a little bummed when i dropped the cake off because when i was checking the top to make sure it didn't crease i accidentally broke the ladder. I cracked it in the middle :( But Cyndy loved it so that of course made my day. This is a chocolate cake with oreo cream filling frosted in buttercream and covered in fondant. I hope they enjoy it :) Thank you for the order Cyndy, this was my first fire truck cake!

It's a Boy!

Heather ordered this baby shower cake for a friend of hers. It's a white cake with raspberry filling frosted in buttercream and covered in fondant. She told me I had free creative control over the cake so that was fun. The bottom tier is actually designed after the baby shower party decor and because the baby is a boy i wanted the top tier to be all blue. The stork sitting atop the cake is holding a sign that reads Congratulations Aerie and Jason! Notice the toys? cute right? I made the small toys out of fondant. There's the teddy bear, the baseball and bat, the football, the Mr. Potato Head and the donut rings. I'll admit, when I was making the toys my mind went blank...I had to stop and think about what little boys play with because all i know are CareBears, Barbies and tea sets :) But i think it came together well. I hope the momma to be loves it! Congratulations and i'm so happy i was able to make the party just a bit sweeter ;) Thank you Heather for the order, you're fabulous!

Tea time

I'm a little teapot...short and stout...here is my handle...here is my spout. Okay, who doesn't remember that song!?!? I love teapots and so does Celeste's mom. She collects them! So what better birthday cake to have then a teapot right? She told me she likes teapots, her favorite color is red and she likes wildflowers. Now, i'm not sure if Cherry Blossoms would be considered a wildflower but they sure are lovely aren't they? There are different species of cherry blossoms and there is symbolic meaning to them too. For example...they represent feminine beauty, love and change. So I thought it would be fitting for a mom :) The cake is chocolate with a raspberry filling frosted in buttercream and covered in fondant. Oh, and the cups are edible too :) I'm keeping my fingers crossed she loves it. Thank you for the order Celeste, you're awesome!!

For the mom's

I forgot to take a picture of my Valentine's orders so when I was finished making these I made it a point to take the camera out. Thank You thank you thank you to everyone who ordered the Mother's Day cakes. I offered two choices for the little lovelies. The first was a white cake with mixed berry filling and the second was a lemon cake with raspberry filling. Both were frosted in buttercream and covered in fondant. Whether they were ordered for your mom or to satisfy your sweet tooth, I hope they're enjoyed! Happy Mother's Day.
