Halloween and Spiders and Mummies...Oh My!

I made this cake to celebrate one of my favorite holidays...Halloween! and what says Halloween better than mummies and spider webs. The last cake I made was two weeks ago so I was really looking forward to making this one. Instead of the usual sheet cake I decided to go for a two tier topsy turvy. My flavor of choice? Chocolate!! I filled the center with buttercream, used gummy eyeballs for the mummy's eyes, covered it with fondant and used buttercream to make the spider webs. Overall I think it turned out cute. And most importantly, I had fun making it!

Creative Outlet

So after what seems like months and months of debating on whether I need to start a blog or not (and a little persuasion from a friend), I’ve decided I might as well. I love reading other blogs and can only hope mine will be just as interesting. Now for my interest, it’s an obsession really…CAKE! I love cake. I love to bake them, decorate them and of course I love to eat cake. I love the smile it brings to the face of the person you’ve made it for when they see it for the first time and when they take that first bite. I love how you can get lost in creativity making a cake. It's just me, my music and my cake and in that moment nothing else matters. Cake making is a great stress reliever for me. If I could make cakes solely as my profession I would. I’ve been doing this off and on for about 15 years now and my goal is to one day be as great as Colette Peters. I still have much to learn and this blog helps me do just that. It gives me a chance to try new recipes and techiniques...and the yumminess can be shared with family and friends. I don’t know how often i’ll be able to post new entries. I’d say once a week but I think that’s being a little too ambitious. Maybe once every 2 weeks or so. I’ll also have blog posts on cupcakes. I can’t forget about cupcakes now can I? That just wouldn’t be right. So that’s my plan. Blog address…check, blog title…check, blog posts, layout and colors of my blog…a work in progress!
