New Orleans Saints

So if you take a look back at last year's posts, you'll find the Cardinals cake and the Dallas Cowboys cake I made. Well this cake was for the same family. This year Aanor wanted a New Orleans Saints cake but wanted it too look like his brother's Dallas Cowboys cake. I can't say enough how thankful I am that their mom keeps coming back to me for business! Although this time I overslept an hour and had to call her asking for just a little more time with the cake but it worked out in the end...she was running a little late herself! Happy Birthday Aanor!

Now to get a little more into football, did anyone watch the Pittsburgh Steelers win the AFC Championship game? I'm super excited!!! They're going to the Super Bowl and this means...FINALLY!! a reason to make a Steelers cake! Keep an eye out for that.

Huh?

This cake was made last year for my sister's birthday party. She wanted it to be an Invader Zim cake...my first thought..."huh?". What the heck is Invader Zim? Thanks to Google, I figured it out. Its a cartoon on the Nickelodean network that, I guess, lots of tweens are into. I haven't watched Nickelodean in ages but it's come a long way from what I remember. I made sure to never miss an episode of The Secret World of Alex Mack and Are You Afraid of the Dark? I also rememeber being super excited when Rugrats The Movie came out because that too was my show. Does anyone rememeber All That? and Kenan and Kel? Salute your Shorts? Clarissa Explains it all? The Adventures of Pete and Pete? Doug? Hey Arnold? Oh how I miss those shows. That's the Nickelodeon I loved. Anyway...enough nostalgia for now. I'll youtube those shows later! So the characters on this cake are Gir and Scary Monkey. I felt a little lost making it but she loved it and that's all that matters!

It's almost here...

So Valentine's Day is approaching and i'm very excited about it. I'm sure you would probably expect my excitment to be because I usually have a nice romantic dinner with my husband or I would get an awesome out of this world gift that consists of diamonds, diamonds and more diamonds. But I'm going to let you down and say "nope...that isn't why I'm excited about Valentine's Day". As usual, i'll be stuck at work late that day so it won't be a date night for me. I've just always loved Valentine's Day. Now I won't get all sappy on you and say its because of all the love in the air...I really just don't know. I'm a very um, what's the word? aesthetic person? I appreciate all things beautiful and am very observant. I love things pleasing in appearance. So when I start to see the Valentine's Day decor I get very happy! So in honor of my love of the day, I thought I would post my latest fun time in the kitchen. A conversation heart and chocolate dipped strawberries. How cute is that heart? and yup, its all cake. Keep your eyes posted for more pictures to come because I'll be playing in the kitchen whipping up some sweet treats for the day of hearts. Oh and for those interested in getting something sweet for their Sweet...i'm taking orders!
