It's a girl!
This is the first baby shower cake i've posted...for a baby girl anyway :) This cake was fun to make because I was able to come up with the idea myself. When it was ordered, I had asked if there was a theme...i thought maybe i could follow it. However, since there wasn't I came up with this. I wanted something cute. Something...girly. What says girl better that pink, especially a soft pink. Top it all off with a bow and voila! The bottom tier is chocolate with a raspberry filling and the top tier is a chocolate with chocolate and fresh strawberry filling. Both are frosted in buttercream and covered in fondant. I hope Mama loved it! :) Thanks for the order Heidi!!

More than meets the eye...
Since 2005, Transformers is kind of a big deal. The third installment just came out, in fact i think it may still be in the theaters. Kids parties are taking full advantage of the Transformers theme. Which is exactly what this was. A 2 years old's birthday party. Tammy made sure to reserve the order about 2 months ago! lol. She wanted the original character Bumblebee on it, the throwback...he's my favorite :) It's a chocolate cake with oreo cream filling, frosted in buttercream and covered in fondant. Bumblebee is edible too! I dropped the cake off this morning and how cool is this...she had a jump house at the birthday party!! The cub and I were invited but sadly i was unable to stay...had to find a wifi spot :) It's okay, i'm sure i would have had to drag the cub out of there kicking and screaming! lol. Happy Happy 2nd Birthday Riley! Eat lots of cake and have tons of fun!! and a big shout out to Cougar 12...Thanks for the order ;)

he's a hunter :)
So this was a cake order I finished this morning. It was ordered last week by a friend of a friend. Most of my customers hear of me through referrals and i'm so thankful! I almost didn't get a chance to make this cake but Stephanie was okay with the idea of me making it last night/this morning. She wanted the cake for tomorrow and with my changed work hours, its not so easy for me to take on weekday orders and I really don't like saying no to orders. Here's the thing...call me crazy :) but, I make it a point to make my cakes, as late as possible for customers. I'm all about freshness...sure a cake can look nice, but if it doesn't taste good then what's the point? right? The cake should be good in the refrigerator overnight anyhow...its wrapped in the fondant. Fondant is nice because it helps to keep moisture and freshness locked in. In fact, when fondant first came to be, it was used mostly as a means to preserve freshness. But because of its clay like consistency, it makes a great medium to work with. I'm so happy I was able to make it because it turned out great. She said he enjoyed hunting and being outdoors. She wanted a 2 tier...the same size as the baby shower cake i had made for Heather. It's a white cake with raspberry filling, frosted in buttercream and covered in fondant. I hope he loves it!! Happy Birthday! and Thank You Stephanie!!
