Avatar-The Last Airbender

Yet another Nickelodean show i've never seen. I'm so out of it when it comes to all the latest and greatest in cartoons. My friend Maria ordered these for a birthday party for today. A party she invited me too and food was delish! It was nice to be around a large family with a bunch of kiddos running around. I don't often get to attend family gatherings so this was great. Thank you for having us Maria :) She told me the Last Airbender was for sure googleable so i did just that! Thank goodness for the internet...what in the world did we ever do without it, lol. The cake in red was a chocolate with oreo cream filling frosted in buttercream, it features the character Aang and the cake in blue was a red velvet frosted in cream cheese icing, it features the character, Katara. Everyone seemed to really enjoy it and that's enough for me :) Happy Birthday Jaden and Danelle! and a big thanks to Maria for the order.

I'd rather be fishing...

Heather is just awesome...she orders fun cakes for her family and keeps coming to me for them! This one was for her son. She had said he enjoyed the outdoors but was really into fishing. She had wanted a cake about the same size as the Greenbay Packers cake which was an 8 inch and 6 inch. When you think about it, it doesn't seem like much at all, but when its all finished, it's a pretty good sized cake! The bottom tier was a white with raspberry filling and the top was a chocolate with chocolate filling. Both tiers were frosted in buttercream and covered in fondant. What says fishing than fishing itself right? The top of the cake isn't big at all so in order the make the best use of the cake's space I decided to have the "water" running of the sides of the cake. The fisherman was propped on top and the only thing not edible with this cake is the fishing pole and the fishing line. I threw in a few "rocks", a mallard duck, and if you can take a closer look, the fish are supposed to look like bass and rainbow trout :) Cute right? Thanks for the order Heather, and i hope your son had a fabulous birthday!

Hunger Games

I made this cake a few weeks ago and am just now getting around to posting the pics. I'm telling you, with this new schedule i've got...i have zero time. The phrase "running late" is a daily thing for now :) My friend and co-worker Jennifer ordered this for her daughter Megan's Sweet 16 birthday. She loves this post-apocolyptic story book series and so her mom wanted a cake to reflect that interest. I've never read any of the books but I hear it's being made into a movie, so i may have to read it :) Since I took the order not knowing anything about it, Jennifer was the mastermind behind the design. She gave me the ideas for the flames because in the book, a character dresses in a flames costume. The book also has different districts. There isn't a 16th district but I used it to represent the birthday. The top of the cake is supposed to replicate the Mockingjay pin from the cover of the books. Megan's requests were that it were in black fondant, it's had a topsy turvy design and the cake was white with oreo cream filling. Megan, I hope your 16th birthday was amazing. Sorry it took me a few weeks to get these posted. And a big thanks to Jennifer for all the help and of course the order! :)
